Photo tips:

Have the sun to the photographer's back.
Have someone hold the horse.
Make sure the horse is standing on all four feet and not leaning or resting a leg.
Use a contrasting color background, i.e. no white horses in the snow!
Set the horse up on flat ground, not a hillside.
Groom the horse, it's hard to tell what it looks like when it's covered in burdocks.
